Randy McGravey
Randy McGravey has been making music since his teenage years and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Business from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He has been teaching guitar, bass, and ukulele since 2012 and enjoys working with students across a variety of musical interests and experience levels.
Initially inspired by classic rock, Randy has developed a broad musical background that includes country, jazz, pop, classical, and blues. He has also authored more than seven instructional books for guitar and ukulele, combining his experience as a musician and educator to help students develop their skills and explore the styles of music they enjoy.
In addition to teaching, Randy is an accomplished composer and performer. His compositions have been featured in hundreds of television programs, including Law & Order, SpongeBob SquarePants, Pawn Stars, Magnum P.I., and SportsCenter. His work as a composer has given him the opportunity to write across a wide range of styles and settings.
Randy also performs throughout New England as a solo singer and guitarist and with a variety of musical groups. Whether composing, performing, or teaching, he brings a broad range of musical experience and a genuine enthusiasm for helping others develop their own relationship with music.

“My teaching philosophy is to work towards the individual student’s goals. Younger students usually start with some simple familiar melodies, so they can start playing right away. Older students usually start by learning chords, as they are the foundation of most songs that are played on stringed instruments. It is very important to me that students have fun while they are learning. Those who have fun always practice more and progress faster.”
