Board Eligible Music Therapist, Music Teacher (voice, guitar, and beginning piano), and Adaptive Music Teacher.

Lyla El-Gamel

Lyla El-Gamel is a recent graduate of Temple University, where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy with a concentration in Voice. Throughout her education and clinical training, Lyla gained experience working with children, adolescents, and adults across a variety of settings, including therapeutic school settings, special education programs, daycares, behavioral health facilities, senior care, and community-based music programs. Having the opportunity to work with individuals across the lifespan has been meaningful to her and has further shown her the power of music therapy.

Voice is Lyla’s primary instrument, and she also accompanies herself on piano and guitar. Her musical background allows her to incorporate a variety of instruments and approaches into her work while supporting meaningful and accessible musical experiences for individuals with diverse needs and abilities. She also has experience working as part of interdisciplinary teams and values the collaborative nature of music therapy.

As a music therapist, Lyla takes a humanistic, person-centered, and holistic approach to her work, striving to meet each person where they are while supporting their individual strengths, needs, and goals. She believes music can create opportunities for expression, connection, and growth and aims to provide a welcoming and supportive space where people can engage with music in ways that are meaningful to them.

During her time at Temple University, Lyla served as Vice President and Chapter Representative of the university’s music therapy student organization, where she strengthened her leadership skills and became more involved in the music therapy profession through connections with the MAR-AMTA board. She plans to sit for the Music Therapy Board Certification Examination in September and looks forward to becoming a board-certified music therapist.

Lyla is offering music therapy for individuals and groups; and lessons for voice, guitar, and beginning piano. Adaptive lessons are available.
