Maria Ramey is a board certified music therapist and holds an MS in music therapy from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis and a BA in music therapy from California State University Northridge. She is passionate about the power of music to increase quality of life and promote healing in all populations. As a clinician in private practice Maria has worked with adults with developmental disabilities, children and teens with multiple developmental and physical disabilites, geriatric and Alzheimer's clients, traumatic brain injury, individuals of all ages on the spectrum, and more; both individually and in group sessions. Before going into private practice, Maria provided music therapy for a facility for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, during which time she published a book for music therapists working with this population. She also built the music therapy program from the ground up at a psychiatric hospital in southern California, working there full time until moving to Massachusetts in 2014. Ongoing private and group sessions are available in the north-central Massachusetts area, as well as special occasional programs for Alzheimer's/geriatric groups, and in-service consultation/training.
